Graphic Design is a basic course that introduces students to the fundamental elements and principles of design, layout skills and use of the computer as a graphic design tool.  Students will develop their ability to communicate visually and problem solve as it applies to print communication.  A basic foundation of illustration, design, color theory, typography and design technology is addressed throughout this course.  Students gain an introduction to computer hardware and a variety of software applications (photo, paint, illustration, and page design programs).  Workplace skills, career portfolios, speaker visits, and field visitations based on current industry standards will be integrated.

 

Goal:

 

To give students the skills to succeed after high school in postsecondary education, advanced career training, viable jobs with a meaningful career path through a curriculum integrating college preparatory academic instruction, industry-recognized career and technical skills, education and hands-on training, and workplace readiness skills preparation.
